Engines and performance
The 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 has such a wide range of engines you can be sure there's a powertrain for any job you have in mind. The 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque is the fastest version of the new Silverado you can buy, taking the High Country model from zero to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. The smaller 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower can make the same run in 6.1 seconds.
If you put a high priority on torque, the turbocharged 3.0-liter six cylinder Duramax® diesel can give you 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. If you want a more rugged version of the Silverado, the Trail Boss will give you a 2.0-inch lift, a tough set of tires and other special upgrades that can take you across challenging terrain.
Towing and payload capacity
The new half-ton Chevy Silverado can give you a maximum towing capacity of 13,300 pounds and that's enough to surpass the Ram 1500 by 550 pounds. You can get that top-level towing capacity with the 6.2-liter V8 engine and the 5.3-liter variation can still pull as much as 11,500 pounds. If you go with the smaller 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, your maximum towing capacity will be 9,500 pounds. In terms of payload, the Chevy Silverado can handle anywhere from 1,870 pounds to 2,280 pounds. Fuel economy can be as high as 33 MPG on highways around Farmington and Hartford CT with the optional diesel engine.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 can be configured in a variety of ways. Base models give you essentials like manually-adjustable front seats, manual locks and windows and vinyl seats.
